Tryout Announcement and Registration

Tryouts for the Wheeler Jr. Wildcats baseball team will be held on Sunday, September 30 from 1 pm - 4 pm at McDonald Field, located behind Wheeler High School. Any current 7th or 8th grade baseball player who will be attending Wheeler High School (including students who currently attend private school) is encouraged to attend tryouts.

About Wheeler Jr. Wildcats Baseball

Wheeler Jr. Wildcats Baseball is an effort to establish an independent "feeder" baseball program for middle school students who will be attending Wheeler High School. The Jr. Wildcats are not part of the Wheeler High School baseball program, and playing on the Jr. Wildcats team does not guarantee a player a spot on the high school team. However, the goal of our team will be to play competitive baseball while preparing players for high school play.

The Jr. Wildcats will play in the spring of 2008, with some practice and conditioning this fall and winter. Because I don't yet know the level of participation and interest, schedules and costs will be established after tryouts and an introductory parent meeting.

If you have any questions or would like to help with the effort to establish this program, please feel free to contact me at 678-983-0973 or at dwallace@smithdalia.com. You can also leave questions here on the blog.
